Beckenham Junction
Beckenham is a town in the London Borough of Bromley located 8.4 miles from London Charing Cross. It is referred to as Bacheham in the Domesday Book of 1086. St George's church, in the centre of Beckenham, has a 13th century lychgate that is said to be the oldest in England. Beckenham has a range of restaurants, pubs and bars and some specialist shops on the High Street, whilst more extensive shopping can be found in nearby Bromley at The Glades shopping centre. Also in Bromley is The Churchill Theatre, a repertory theatre acting as both a receiving and producing house, with many of its own productions transferring to the West End or touring nationally. There is a cinema and leisure centre and a nightclub and bar complex situated next to Beckenham’s railway station. Other recreational facilities in the area include Beckenham Place Park and Kelsey Park, home to a large number of Canada geese and other birds including herons residing in the carefully looked-after greenery and lake. Beckenham is a residential town with good transport links into London. In addition to 15 minute frequent commuter services to London Victoria, a tram line runs from Beckenham Junction mainline station to Croydon
